Imperial College London offers exceptional master's degree programs for students with outstanding undergraduate academic records.Â
If you receive an offer and join one of these programs, there may be opportunities to work with us at SWIRL for your master's thesis project.
We offer two main types of master's degrees, each designed for different career goals and research interests:
About
The MSc program combines rigorous coursework with hands-on research experience. You'll spend six months taking advanced taught modules, followed by six months dedicated full-time to your individual research project and thesis.
This degree is perfect if you want to:
Gain broad expertise across advanced computer science topics
Experience cutting-edge research in a supportive environment
Explore reinforcement learning alongside related fields like machine learning, optimization, and theoretical computer science
The curriculum includes numerous modules relevant to our research, covering foundational machine learning, advanced algorithms, and theoretical aspects of AI. I regularly contribute to teaching in areas related to reinforcement learning and decision-making under uncertainty.
Application Process
Each year, I take on a few MSc positions. The application process is detailed on the official MSc webpage.
Once you receive an offer and join the program, feel free to contact me to discuss potential research projects for your thesis.
About
The MRes (Master of Research) degree is research-intensive, featuring minimal taught components with the majority of your time dedicated to a comprehensive 12-month research project.
This degree is ideal if you:
Are seriously considering pursuing a PhD in reinforcement learning or related areas
Want substantial PhD-level research experience
Aim to publish research papers to strengthen future PhD applications
Prefer deep engagement with a single research problem over broad coursework
Application Process
Each year, I take on a few MRes positions. The application process is detailed on the official MRes webpage.
